As you may know, I have a few thoughts about Nintendo's Game Boy. That is to say: Five years ago, on the occasion of Game Boy's 25th anniversary, I launched a YouTube series called Game Boy World. It eventually saw a rebranding to become Game Boy Works, and now it shares its weekly slot with companion series like NES Works, Super NES Works, and Virtual Boy Works. But I still intend to continue working my way through Game Boy's history one to three games at a time—in fact, I spent entirely too much case on a bunch of Game Boy software and packaging this past weekend at Midwest Gaming Classic. Where, incidentally, we also recorded and presented a bunch of conversations centered around Game Boy's anniversary.
In other words, Game Boy has been on my mind recently, and in the spirit of these things, I present to you Episode 213 of Retronauts: A proper retrospective on the system, featuring Ray Barnholt and Jared Petty in addition to myself and Bob. It is, in my opinion, possibly the best 109-minute conversation you're likely to hear this week about Game Boy—and you're probably going to hear a lot of them, since the 30th anniversary of its Japanese launch is this coming Sunday!
If you still need more Game Boy info once you finish listening to this episode, you'll be happy to know there are more than 100 episodes of the Game Boy Works series for you to dive into on YouTube—which works out to be approximately, oh, 12 or 13 of total running time, I'd wager.
