I don't think I need to be the one to point this out but 2020, as a year, has been an unmitigated disaster; historians (i.e.survivors) will have no qualms declaring this whole thing as a Bad Time. But one brief, bright, shining light in all this anguish is that Bill & Ted got to have a comeback movie and it is good. Imagine that!
In that light, Jeremy Parish, Bob Mackey, Henry Gilbert, and Stuart Gipp got together and had a long chat about the original movie Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure from 1989, its most unusual sequel Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey, as well as the licensed video games which followed. Also, since I am name-checked twice despite not appearing in this podcast, I just want to give a shout out to veteran character actor/perennial henchman Al Leong who played Genghis Khan in the first movie. He doesn't really have any lines, but he steals a lot of scenes and is worthy of more attention. Party on, Al!
And in a special ripped-from-the-time-circuits add-on segment to this episode, guest Henrique Olifiers tells us all about the ZX Spectrum Next Kickstarter campaign which is ending this week. We highlighted it in our monthly roundup of crowdfunding projects but he can explain it better than any of us can!
Description: Jeremy Parish, Bob Mackey, Henry Gilbert, and Stuart Gipp hop in their telephone booths to discuss the classic Bill & Ted films and their not-so-classic game tie-ins. Then Jeremy chats with Henrique Olifiers about the ZX Spectrum's return via Kickstarter.
