Retronauts Episode 519: JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, Chapter 2
Sadly, we don't cover OH, That's A Baseball!
Three weeks ago (four if you're a Retronauts patron, just sayin') we released our first episode dedicated to JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, a manga that has secretly influenced a broad swath of Japanese pop culture for decades. While the feedback on that episode was positive, I noticed a theme of "I'm enjoying this conversation but none of this makes any sense."
This week might not improve matters in that department but at the very least we restrict our conversation to video games, specifically those official releases that feature many characters named "JoJo" and their assorted allies and adversaries. Not many of these games appeared outside Japan, but if you played Capcom fighting games in the 1990s, there should be at least one title you're familiar with as it ended up being America's first localized JoJo adaptation.
So settle in for another long episode as Diamond Feit, Jeremy Parish, Jess O'Brien, and Chris Person tell you about a series of video games that run the gamut from licensed garbage to exquisite labors of love. If nothing else, we'll explain that one stick figure meme you saw 20 years ago that didn't make any sense!
Description: ZA WARUDO could wait no longer, so Diamond Feit, Jeremy Parish, Voidburger, and Chris Person team up again to tackle JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, this time focusing their mental energies on the franchise's official video game adaptations.
