Books! Nothing is more retro than books. Video games? Television? Very 20th century. Movies? Maybe 19th century, if you're a true connoisseur. But the history of books stretches back millennia. Plural.
We've become increasingly invested in the printed word here at Retronauts, with multiple hosts getting published as of late. It helps that our friends at Limited Run Games have begun pushing their own initiative to get more tomes into the world.
This week, host Jeremy Parish and Jared Petty, editors both, speak to two different authors with game-focused books on the market: Kyle Orland takes the lead, having written a deep-dive into Minesweeper, the bite-sized PC game that reached millions due to its status as a Windows pack-in for decades. Richard Moss, meanwhile, tackles the far-reaching topic of shareware in his book, Shareware Heroes.
Description: Book editors Jeremy Parish and Jared Petty talk to book authors Kyle Orland and Richard Moss about their books about the history of landmark computer games: "Minesweeper" by Boss Fight Books and "Shareware Heroes," respectively.
