2023 has been a remarkable year for projects that lovingly recreate or recapture past games and present them to both new and established audiences alike. With that in mind, this week's episode contains a pair of Stuart Gipp interviews with developers behind two such releases in recent memory.
First up, Stu talks to frequent guest Chris Kohler. While we normally have Chris on our show for his expertise on other people's games, this time he's here because of his role at Digital Eclipse in regards to the company's Gold Master series. The first release of this initiative was The Making of Karateka, a documentary-esque dive into the creation of the 1984 computer game.
Second, we welcome Raymond Teo of Secret Base onto the show for a look behind the scenes of Double Dragon Gaiden, an original beat-em-up that necessarily carries forward concepts from other Double Dragon games. We hope you enjoy this insight into how video games are preserved/recreated!
Description: Double main event! Stuart chats with Chris Kohler about The Making of Karateka, then speaks to Raymond Teo about the recent Double Dragon Gaiden.
