Besides the ports of hit arcade games and the high-speed platforms starring a certain hedgehog, the Sega Genesis/Mega Drive had its share of weirdly experimental titles. Yet I struggle to remember another game I bought as a teenager quite as strange as ToeJam & Earl, the funk-flavored roguelike that has laid-back aliens trying to outmaneuver dangerous humans rather than the other way around.
Against all odds, ToeJam & Earl sold well enough to start a franchise all its own, although later games vary wildly in presentation. Still, that's more than enough material to support an entire podcast! So please enjoy as host Jeremy Parish chats with guests Stuart Gipp, Kevin Bunch, and Retronauts patron Scott Rothman about a pair of confused extra-terrestrials hunting for just the right gift.
Oh and speaking of patrons, we wouldn't have made it to 600 episodes without support from our listeners! Thank you, everyone!
Description: Patron Scott Rothman presses Start to join a bunch of weenies (Jeremy Parish, Stuart Gipp, and Kevin Bunch) in their randomly generated conversation about Sega's most jammin' Genesis franchise, Toe Jam & Earl.
