Retronauts Episode 698: The Frog For Whom The Bell Tolls

I'd call this podcast "ribbiting"

Nintendo has decades of video games under their belt by now, but not every title shipped out of Kyoto became an international success. Some games never left Japan at all, rendering them unknown to a majority of the globe.

In 1992, a crew of Nintendo developers with credits on some major hits came together to make a "gagventure." They called it Kaeru no Tame ni Kane wa Naru which fans have since translated as The Frog For Whom The Bell Tolls. On this episode of Retronauts, host Diamond Feit, composer Christa Lee, and game developer npckc shine a light on this undersung release about two princes, one princess, and an uncountable number of amphibians.

Description: When is a prince not a prince? When he’s a frog or a snake! Diamond Feit, Christa Lee, and npckc laud one of Nintendo’s lesser-known games outside of Japan, The Frog For Whom The Bell Tolls.
