Back to the Future is an excellent movie, so much so that the studio agreed to make Back to the Future II and III back-to-back (an unheard of decision at the time). And while Part II offered wild twists and time-travel oddities, the third film surprised a lot of viewers by being mostly a straight-up Western in a decade when Westerns weren't popular anymore. Now that enough time has passed though, I think more people are coming around to enjoying the third film as it gives Doc Brown a bigger role to play and also puts a bow on the entire series.
After one Back to the Future episode just for our Patreon supporters and another episode for everyone, we have arrived at the third and final podcast dedicated to the comedic sci-fi trilogy. Joining Bob and Jeremy once again are Henry Gilbert and Dave Rudden. This time, we made sure to cover all the games we didn't get to in Episode 336, even though the software deserves far fewer kind words than the movies do. However, we purposely left the 2010 Telltale adventure game aside for more in-depth coverage in a future episode. Please look forward to that conversation in 202X!
One last note, since it comes up during this episode: Back to the Future: The Ride was still operating in Universal Studios Japan on October 21, 2015, but it closed the following year and was indeed replaced with Minions. Nothing lasts forever.
Description: The summer of 1990 brought about the end of Back to the Future with Part III, which traded the frantic, high-concept time travel adventures of the second movie for a more grounded finale rooted in the Old West. Though it's gained a bit of a reputation as a lackluster final act to an otherwise stellar series, Part III remains a satisfying conclusion that picks up many of the more emotional beats Part II left behind. On this episode, join Bob Mackey, Jeremy Parish, Henry Gilbert, and Dave Rudden as the crew discusses the concluding chapter of the trilogy and the many mostly bad Back to the Future games we haven't discussed so far. So listen in, and we'll see you in the future! (Specifically, next week.)
