Last year, we celebrated Retronauts' 15th anniversary as the very first episode launched on October 4, 2006 as a creation of 1up.com. That website, beloved by many, closed its cyber-doors in 2013, but Retronauts endured: first thanks to a Kickstarter campaign, and now through the generosity of our Patreon supporters. When we re-launched the all-new Retronauts in 2013, we reset the episode counter to reflect our independence. This week, we are proud to release our 500th episode by turning our recollecting eyes towards ourselves as we reflect on how far we've come, as well as answering questions submitted from you, our fabulous listeners.
While Bob Mackey is our "host" for this conversation, everyone joining him on the air is also a host of the show in their own right. International time zones prevented us from all talking over each other at the same time, so we split ourselves into two squads. First up, Bob talks to Jeremy Parish and Stuart Gipp, then Nadia Oxford and Diamond Feit call in for the second segment.
Description: Here's a shocking fact for you: Since we started this crazy ride back in 2013, we've released 500 full-length podcasts. (And a whole bunch of other stuff on top of that.) It's been quite a wild ride since we started our independent run, and we've had our share of ups, downs, and global pandemics over the last near decade. So instead of turning the spotlight on a video game topic, on this very special episode, it's time to learn a little something about... ourselves. Now take a seat with Bob Mackey, Jeremy Parish, Stuart Gipp, Diamond Feit, and Nadia Oxford as we discuss the past, present, and future of the little retro gaming podcast that simply can't be stopped.
Retronauts is a completely fan-funded operation. To support the show, and get exclusive episodes every month, please visit the official Retronauts Patreon.
