Retronauts Episode 626: Asterix, Part 1
Recorded in English for your convenience!
Bienvenue, fans des Rétronautes! That's as far as my high-school français will get me in this blogpost. Why all the language talk at the top here? Because we're dealing with a property drenched in French—the nation, the people, and the culture. Americans might know just how popular Astérix is across Europe, but since the series began in 1959, the adventures of the diminutive Gaul have sold hundreds of millions of comic books.
With a legacy that long and a fanbase that large, it follows that video game developers would seek to leverage that popularity into their medium of choice. So much so that this episode necessarily became just Part One of a larger discussion about Astérix and his many, many video games.
Stuart Gipp sips the hosting potion this week, sitting down with guests John Linneman, Audi Sorlie, and Thomas Nickel for a journey to the times of Julius Caesar, Cleopatra, and so, so many unfortunate pirates.
Description: These Retronauts are crazy! Stuart Gipp, Audi Sorlie, John Linneman, and Thomas Nickel begin their Gaul-ing journey through the Astérix franchise. PAF!
