Retronauts Episode 741: Sonic CD
Gotta go fast to fix the past
It seems so quaint in our digital present to think of a time when the notion of releasing a game on a wafer-thin compact disc rather than a bulky cartridge got people so excited they would include the letters CD in the title. Sega sought to port their red-hot mascot's debut title to their new hardware add-on, but when the project shifted towards an original game, they knew fans needed to see the letters "CD" on the box.
Host Stuart Gipp and his usual hedgehog cohorts Dave Bulmer and Seumidh MacDonald give us the deets on Sonic CD, how it handles complex concepts like time travel, and its unusual release featuring two entirely separate soundtracks.
Description: Tele-pod-tation, yeah! Stuart Gipp, Seumidh MacDonald and Dave Bulmer get the Sonic team back together to investigate Big S’ optimal, optical option.
