Kickstarter Kompilation: November 2026 edition
Halloween's over? Don't tell Jason.
We've got something for everyone this month, including new games for old systems, a book about an old game, and a straight-up new game that I included just because. As a general rule we recommend only backing crowdfunding campaigns if you feel comfortable with your own security and stability. We have no insider information or financial interest in any of these projects (unless noted otherwise) and no one at Retronauts has been compensated for including anything on this page. To the best of my ability I have not (and never will) endorse any campaign built around AI-generated assets.
Slime in the Ice Machine (ends November 4 estimated reward date March 2027)
I'm leading off with a non-retro project but I played the demo—available on Steam or itch.io—and I'm super into this wacky game about deductive reasoning, colorful characters, and heavy drinking. Also the developers are based in New York City (but the game takes place in "House-ton").
Lady Stalker 2D (ends November 9 estimated reward date April 2027)
Since this is a website dedicated to old video games, a decent percentage of you have probably heard of Landstalker on the Sega Genesis/Mega Drive. What you might not know is that the developers released a spinoff called Lady Stalker for the Super Famicom in 1995.
Three decades later, a core group of veterans have returned to their roots with Lady Stalker for the Famicom. This is a new game working within the restraints of 8-bit graphics and sound. Due note that, like the 1995 game, it's entirely in Japanese; this is a Famicom game, not an NES game.
Mopi Mopi Panic (ends November 13 estimated reward date January 2027)
The duo behind Studio MadCap clearly hold a special place in their heart for the Commodore 64 as they have made and released multiple games for that now-ancient computer. Their most recent creation is a puzzle-driven game called Mopi Mopi Panic. They've finished the game—you can buy it on itch.io—but they're seeking funds to print and distribute physical cartridges.
Cauldron Cottage (ends November 22 estimated reward date October 2027)
Robert Doman devotes a lot of his time to GB Studio, both to develop Game Boy software and show people the ropes via YouTube tutorials. His next game exists as a demo but he hopes to raise funds to release it in full both digitally and on a cartridge.
The Easy Way: Friday the 13th (ends November 25 estimated reward date December 2026)
Halloween 2026 has come and gone but Jason Voorhees remains in our nightmares. His starring role in Friday the 13th for the NES lives in infamy due to its inscrutability as a game and his threatening aura radiating in a product aimed at children. This guidebook breaks down the game in great detail, reducing its mystery so that one-frightened children might finally defeat Jason and save the children of Camp Crystal Lake (now a streaming series, so I am told).
At Sixes and Sevens (ends November 25 estimated reward date March 2027)
We led off this month's listing with a deduction game and we're wrapping things up with a detective game. At Sixes and Sevens, however, looks like a classic PlayStation game. You can try the demo for yourself on Steam.
