Listener mail call: Final Fantasy VII's history and intro
Something something about killing people who sell games on cartridges?
This weekend will be another of those marathon recording sessions Bob and I (and a rotating roster of lovable friends) put together every few months, and per usual, we want to bring you (the Retronauts listener community) into the mix!
We have several topics on the docket for this weekend, and the biggest by far will be the next chapter of our ongoing Final Fantasy game-by-game analysis: Final Fantasy VII. In fact, Final Fantasy VII is so big a topic we're going to split the conversation across two episodes. This time, we're going to be talking about the history of the game's development, the corporate politics behind its shocking abandonment of Nintendo, and the first 8-10 hours of the game leading up to the escape from Midgar.
So, if you have comments or memories about any of these things (including that SIGGRAPH demo of Final Fantasy VI people beating on a Golem), write in soon! You can leave a comment here in the article or drop me a line at jparish [at] retronauts.com — just be sure to do so no later than Friday evening! Please try and keep your message under 200 words, if you can... it's more likely to end up being read on-air if it doesn't take too much time for us to read aloud.
Thanks, and stay tuned for more mailbag opportunities throughout the week!
