Retronauts Episode 222 has got Sonic Mania...

...and the only cure is more, uh, Sonic Mania.

As we are wont to do, we have once again put a modern take on a classic franchise under the lens of Retronauts scrutiny. We can't think of a more fitting selection, though. Sonic Mania is deeply intertwined with Sonic's history, reprising content and making use of assets from a number of vintage Genesis and Sega CD titles, along with long-lost cutting-room floor material—all of which has been reworked. Upgraded sprite animations, familiar scenes that give way to never-before-seen Sonic settings, and a soundtrack consisting of brilliant remixes and all-new compositions. Sonic Mania is a love letter to the franchise and its fans—created be Sega in conjunction with those self-same fans—and in this episode we effuse about the whole affair for an hour and a half.

And don't miss our previous Sonic adventures:

This week's fantastic artwork comes to us courtesy of Cassie Hart, who as always should be lauded with accolades for her fine work!
