Retronauts Episode 303: Game Boy Color

Despite the subject matter, our podcast remains monochromatic

We've spilled a lot of digital ink and many hours of our podcast discussing Nintendo's Game Boy and its impact on the medium of video games, especially how it came to define the handheld system as a concept for a time. But this week we're focusing on the Game Boy Color, the Game Boy's successor which is typically lumped in with the Game Boy in most retrospectives. That's hardly fair: the GBC arrived when the GB was already 9 years old and while it played all the colorless games that came before it, it had exclusive Color titles all to itself.

So tune in this week to hear Jeremy, Bob, and longtime Retronaut Ray Barnholt chat specifically about the Game Boy Color and how it ferried handheld gaming from the Game Boy to the Game Boy Advance.

Description: The original power trio (Jeremy Parish, Bob Mackey, and Ray Barnholt) talk about the system that isn't a Game Boy. It's the Game Boy Color! A completely distinct platform! One that often gets overlooked. In this episode, we un-overlook it.
