Come see us LIVE this weekend at Long Island Retro Gaming Expo
Sunday at 12:30 p.m. is the magic time slot.
Part of our Patreon commitment to you, the people who make this podcast venture and site possible, is that Bob and I schlep it across the country three times a year* to appear in front of a room full of people and talk for an hour. We made our second visit to Milwaukee's Midwest Gaming Classic back in April, and we'll be returning to Portland Retro Gaming Expo per usual in October. Here in the middle of the year, though, we're trying something a little new for our remaining presentation commitment: We'll be heading to Long Island Retro Gaming Expo in — wait for it — Long Island, NY. The full details:

Yes — this coming weekend, Bob and I will be teaming up with Kurt Kalata and Xerxes from Hardcore Gaming 101 and the GameClub 199X podcast to take on our third and probably final attempt to unravel one of gaming's most complicated franchise lineages: Nihon Falcom's Dragon Slayer series. You may recall that I covered the Game Boy port of the original Dragon Slayer in Game Boy Works last fall —
— and both Legacy of the Wizard (aka Dragon Slayer IV) and Faxandu received name-drops in yesterday's podcast. Those are mere tips on the ol' iceberg, though, and we'll be doing our best to explain and make sense of the series' tortured legacy this weekend. Live! Without a net! Thankfully, HG101 offers one of the most comprehensive English-language resources about Dragon Slayer games online, so we're in good company. Afterwards, we'll try to get our guests to record a couple of proper episodes with us as well, since they have huge brains and can talk real good about old games.
Please join us this weekend! We've never been to LIRGE and have no idea what it will be like. That's scary. Come be friendly faces in the audience for us and calm our nerves.
* (I'll also be appearing at Super FamiCom in Greensboro, NC this November, but that's a bonus live presentation since it's happening an hour from where I live and they asked nicely.)
