Retronauts Episode 362: Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade

"Our podcast is prepared. How's yours?"

"Adventure. Excitement. A Jedi craves not these things." Obviously, but an archaeologist? They welcome danger and willingly leap onto every form of moving vehicle in order to find ancient treasure or obstruct fascism (ideally both at the same time). In the 1980s, Steven Speilberg, George Lucas, and Harrison Ford taught us these fundamental qualities which all archeologists share via their trilogy of documentary motion pictures about Dr. Henry Walton "Indiana" Jones Jr. We at Retronauts have in turn recorded a trilogy of podcasts on their work: Raiders of the Lost Ark, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, and now, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.

As with the previous two episodes, Jeremy enlists the full Retronauts East crew (Benj Edwards, Chris Sims, and Ben Elgin) to discuss how this third film pushed back hard against the darkness of the second film. Everyone also chimes in on the brilliant cast and exciting set-pieces, and all agree that the games based on this film just don't measure up.

Rumors and ancient writings from 2008 suggest the existence of a fourth film about Dr. Jones, but something tells us we may just have to...let it go.

Description: The Retronauts East crew concludes their journey through the Indiana Jones films with a look back at the final entry in the saga: 1989's Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. Plus the games! (Except the LucasArts game, which deserves its own episode.)
