Retronauts Episode 449: 3DS and Wii U Deathbed Recommendations
The "e" in "eShop" is short for "ephemeral"
The Nintendo 3DS turned 10 last year. The Wii U turns 10 this year. While we can laugh about what's "retro" and what's not, the fact is these platforms have aged out of relevancy to their corporate owner and, as Sony threatened to do last summer, Nintendo will be pulling the plug on these digital marketplaces in the near future.
Unlike Sony, Nintendo's giving consumers a reasonable amount of advanced notice, long enough for us to gather a team of crack experts to let you know which digital exclusives (or just plain hard-to-find titles) are worth picking up before the end comes. Given its longer life and greater success, we have a lot more suggestions for the 3DS than the Wii U, but even Nintendo's second-greatest mistake has games worth playing in 2022 and beyond.
Jeremy Parish is hosting this electronic eulogy, joined by collector Chris Kohler and, making their Retronauts debut (at long last) Eric Caoili from Tiny Cartridge. Everyone brings their own favs to this fire sale!
Description: Jeremy Parish, Chris Kohler, and Tiny Cartridge's Eric Caoili circle like vultures over the warm corpses of Nintendo's last-generation systems, Wii U and 3D, sharing their recommendations for the games everyone should snag before their eShops die as well.
